The Stéphanoise Startup receives the national trophy for innovative eco-business by ADEME, the Ministry of the Environment and the Economy, in the water management category
Presentation of the ADEME / Ministry of the Environment and Economy eco-business trophy
WeCo, a Franco-German company, is the creator of an innovative concept of public flushing toilets, autonomous in water and energy, with an original design, which give toilets back their nobility. Among around thirty participants in the “wastewater treatment” category, WeCo was recognized as the only manufacturer in the world of designer and ecological flush toilets, which do not require any connection to the networks.
After a year of R & amp; amp; D in partnership with international research institutions, WeCo was a partner of the 10th International Design Biennial of Saint-Etienne and presented its prototype that visitors to the Biennale were able to experience for four weeks.
Selected by the City of Paris in the “Adaptation to Climate Change” competition, the prototype is about to make itself known to the general public in Futur en Seine at the beginning of June, to then be experimented for 6 months in the heart of Paris .

A design studied to improve the image of public toilets
The story of the success of this concept of innovative, design, ecological public toilets which changes the negative image of toilets in public spaces, began a year ago with the Excellence Award of the national competition organized by L’Agence Chinese National Tourism Board and the Bill & amp; Milinda Gates.
All these awards in France and internationally confirm WeCo in its global industrial ambitions.
Public toilets represent considerable environmental health issues on a global scale in terms of resource and energy consumption. In France, 3717 liters of drinking water go into the toilet flushes every second. However, research in this area has been developing recently. WeCo’s innovation saves 1000 m3 of water per year for a small urban module of 2 flush toilets and 2 urinals. Thanks to the closed circuit for the treatment of hunting water, the eco-designed modules do not need to be connected to sanitary networks, which allows operators to move it according to the needs of the territory.
